The Learning School, which was formed in 1999, is now entering its 13th year in operation.

In the first 11 consecutive Learning Schools a small group of researchers (students and two graduate coordinators) spent 10 months each year researching a specific topic related to education such as "Student Leadership" and "Curriculum for the 21st Century". They travelled around the world visiting schools from the Global Classroom Partnership.

The 12th Learning School made a change from this format by contributing to a Scottish Government review of future teaching for the first four months, followed by five months of travelling around the world testing their findings.

It is proposed that the next Learning School for the coming session will focus on both research and implementation.
It will however do this while visiting all of the partner schools participating in the research, over a 10 month period.

The research theme will be Personalised Learning.
